Introverts vs Extroverts in school

Whether it be grade school or college, most of the time it is pretty easy to sight whether someone is an introvert or an extrovert. Being able to determine this can help you understand the other person and their needs. If there are any extroverts reading this and you see a lonely looking introvert sitting alone at lunch, please…go talk to them. Unless they are hostile then you know why they are on their own LOL. I can’t say how many times in school I have felt out of place or lonely because I was by myself or didn’t have friends. Just because we are quiet doesn’t mean we don’t want to talk. Now that I am in college, I’ve almost gotten to where I don’t care if I sit by anyone but in high school I definitely felt like an outcast. Here are just a few settings in which you see the biggest difference between introverts and extroverts in school.

  1. During group graded discussion (yikes)

Extroverts: raises hand for every question. Can hardly stop themselves from answering every question if they are really smart. They are the ones that might get told to stop answering all the questions and give others the chance who haven’t gotten points yet. Or goes off topic in class and gets in trouble. Sometimes there’s that one extrovert that won’t sit down and keeps getting up to do things in order to avoid answering questions maybe LOL.

Introverts: Doesn’t attempt to answer any questions and has to be called out by the teacher. Maybe even raise their hand to answer one question, then gives a really short answer. At times may even forfeit all of their points in order to not have to answer any questions at all.

2. Choosing seats

Extroverts: Sits where ever they want, the world is their oyster. Sometimes avoids the front though in order to stay on their phones during class without getting caught.

Introverts: Sit in the back as often as possible unless they are the really smart introverts. Sometimes mistakenly sits in the front and regrets not sitting in the back later. Or if they are assigned to sit in the front, they are miserable all year.

3. When the teacher leaves the room

Extroverts: Talks, gets up from their seat or gets on their phone. But usually they talk.

Introverts: Sits silently waiting for the teacher to come back. Will occasionally talk if prompted to by another student. Usually will just get on their phones.

4. On the first week of school

Extroverts: Will introduce themselves to people either right away or after a day or 2. Usually quick to break the ice and make the class feel comfortable to start talking.

Introverts: Will most likely not talk at all unless an extrovert approaches them or introduces themselves. Will just keep their heads in their phones until they feel comfortable to break the ice with someone. Some introverts never break the ice in some of there classes but may in other classes.

5. At lunch

Extroverts: Usually already finds someone to sit with and talk to.

Introverts: Sits alone until they have someone they feel comfortable to sit with. Or goes and sits near someone and hope that the other person introduces themselves so it’s not as awkward to sit by them in silents.

6. During a group project

Extroverts: Some of them talk the whole time and walk around to other groups to talk to other people. And some take over as a leader of the group on making sure it all gets done. When having to do all they work may call out the other person or talk about how they had to do all of the work.

Introverts: Silently wait for someone to first decide what they are going to do before also maybe chiming in on what they would want to do as well to get it over with. Sometimes if they are the smart introvert they end up doing all of the work on their own and never admit being annoyed with their partners.

I definitely can’t speak for all introverts and extroverts when I say these things. Mostly because I am an introvert an can’t truly see an extroverts side of the story. This is just what I have experienced and what I have seen/ noticed from others. If you have any other ones that might be good, I can add them to the post. I know that everyone reacts differently to every situation and these may not be true to all. But maybe just maybe it will be true to some who reads this haha. Thank you for visiting my blog and have a great rest of your day, night or morning!!!

Also I recently started posting on my advice and journal entry pages… check them out if you like thx.
